Monday 8/20:

Bell Ringer- What is science?

Assignment- Read chapter 1.1 and write down vocabulary in notebooks.

Tuesday 8/21:

Bell ringer- Use 2 of your vocabulary words from chapter 1.1 in the same sentence.

Assignment: Complete Chapter 1.1 Assessment on page 9.

Wednesday 8/22:

Bell ringer-

Which of the following hypotheses is written correctly?

A) Frozen tennis balls will not bounce as

B) If I freeze a tennis ball, then it will not bounce as high.

C) If a tennis ball is frozen, it won’t bounce as high as one that is not

D) If I heat up a tennis ball it will bounce

Thursday 8/23:

Bell ringer-

The classroom is nosier when the teacher leaves the room. Create a hypothesis to explain a possible reasoning.

Assignment-

Read Chapter 1.2 quietly to yourself. (Feel free to take notes!)

Write down the chapter 1.2 vocabulary and definitions.

Complete chapter 1.2 Assessment on page 15.

Friday 8/24:

Bell Ringer-

Write down 2 sentences using the vocabulary words. (1 word per 1 sentence).

Assignment-

Get into groups and choose a practical problem in our community which can be scientifically investigated.

Prepare a report describing:

  • the problem
  • how scientific attitudes could be used to learn more about it,
  • and at least TWO ways technology could be applied to solving it.

If absent, print and fill out Ch1.2Activity.
